Where It All Begins!
A landmark African sporting and tourism initiative positioning Arusha City
as the symbolic, diplomatic, and geographical heart of Africa
Arusha, recognized as the "Geneva of Africa" by President Bill Clinton, hosts the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and serves as Africa's hub for peace diplomacy.
Positioned at the geographical midpoint between Cape Town and Cairo, Arusha embodies the historic Cape-to-Cairo vision of continental connectivity and unity.
More than a race—a continental movement using sport as a powerful tool for diplomacy, social cohesion, and global engagement across Africa.
Africa's premier tourism gateway, surrounded by world wonders including Serengeti, Kilimanjaro, Ngorongoro Crater, and Mount Meru within short distance.
A Continental Statement of Peace, Unity, and Shared Prosperity
The Cape to Cairo Arusha Marathon draws inspiration from one of Africa's most ambitious visions of continental connectivity—the historic Cape to Cairo axis.
When distances are measured from Cape Town (South Africa) to Arusha (Tanzania) and from Cairo (Egypt) to Arusha, they are approximately equal. This unique positioning places Arusha at the midpoint of one of Africa's most iconic north-south axes.
In August 2000, former US President Bill Clinton referred to Arusha as the "Geneva of Africa"—acknowledging the city's sustained contribution to conflict resolution, transitional justice, peace diplomacy, and continental dialogue.
